Prof. Certification

Beyond the field of theatre,  Nicolle earned her professional certification as an addiction counselor CAC II, with the Canadian Council of Professional Certification in 2007.

In between performing, Nicolle began volunteering at a womens’ centre in downtown Toronto. After being nominated for Volunteer of the Year award,  she had the honor of being mentored by counselor/manager Betty Walker and the treatment team at Munro House, Renascent Foundation in Toronto Ontario over a 4 year period.  www.renascent.ca

This professional mentorship included hands on training as well as sponsored professional educational courses, which allowed her to earn her certification part -time over a 4 year period culminating in over 4, 500 hours of practical experience and 240 hours of education and professional development.

Working part time with women ages 15- 99, in a 21 day residential alcohol and drug treatment centre,  she had the opportunity to work  front line in many capacities, in admissions, in group educational sessions,  in after care programs  as well as one on one counseling.

This experience and professional certification has allowed her to connect creative exploration in writing with recovery working with high risk youth as well as with groups and individuals in recovery from  addictions and addiction related issues.

She is pleased to announce the development of a new workshop,

Creative Journaling: The Promises of Recovery

Creative journaling can be fun, spark creativity, be an outlet for release, help to connect with higher power, increase gratitude, encourage honesty and progress in all areas of sobriety.
